Thala Beach Nature Reserve
Thala Beach Nature Reserve is a deluxe family-owned eco and wildlife retreat on Oak Beach 15 minutes south of Port Douglas. Overlooking the Coral Sea, Thala’s 83 deluxe eco-designed bungalows are set amongst 58-hectares of lush beachfront native forest.
Positioned atop a headland overlooking the Coral Sea, tranquil Thala is all about unwinding and relaxing. Soak up Thala’s natural tropical beauty in a private paradise in tropical north Queensland. Thala Beach Nature Reserve provides an island-feel experience without leaving the mainland. It’s the ideal base for exploring the Great Barrier Reef and Daintree Rainforest.
Osprey’s Restaurant offers panoramic views across the sparkling waters of the Coral Sea and the World Heritage-listed forests that clad the coastal ranges. Guests and visitors dine among the birds in the surrounding treetops while enjoying modern Australian cuisine with friendly service.
Thala has proudly achieved Advanced eco-certification through sustainable practices and environmental sensitivity. Deluxe timber eco-designed bungalows are built high on stilts within the forest canopy providing a private and unobtrusive approach to nature. All bungalows enjoy ocean, mountain or forest views. Complimentary onsite walking tours are conducted by knowledgeable guides who have intimate knowledge of wildlife and Thala’s 58-hectares of native forest.
